Dated in pencil lower right: "Sept. 1936". Throughout his career, Gammell would hire models and pose them in a way that he thought might provide useful information for his allegorical work. This drawing is one of these and although it was never incorporated into a large finished work, it clearly stands out as a fine example of draftsmanship.
