Dated lower right: “1915”. This head study of Mamie Nunes was done in Provincetown in 1915. Nunes was a favorite model of Charles Webster Hawthorne and he used her as the central figure in his major work “The Fishwife” which is now in the collection of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum.
