DW 69, Schneiderman 89 iii/VII, before text inscriptions in plate. Verso bears stamp from the Art Institute of Chicago and the blue collector’s stamp of Charles Deering (b.1852) (Lugt 516). Accompanied by label inscribed: “The Charles Deering Collection”. A fine impression on laid paper with left and right edges folded over approximately ½ inch; full sheet measures 12 ¾ x 19 inches.

The scene shows seine fishing off Collier’s Point, Akaroa in Banks Land or Pennisula, near South Island, New Zealand. The plate is based on drawings from 1843-45 when Meryon’s ship was based at Akaroa.
