Harrington 38-c, intermediate trial proof of first published state; Schneiderman 37, v/IX. Signed in pencil lower right: “Seymour Haden”; signed and dated in plate lower right: “Seymour Haden 1860”. A fine impression in fine condition aside from some soiling in outer margins, with full margins. Sheet size: 12 1/4 x 17 3/4 inches. This proof immediately precedes the state published in “Etudes a l’eau-forte” (1865). The plate was rebitten in 1881and then destroyed.

Accompanied by backing that includes a gallery label from Arthur H. Harlow & Co., 712 Fifth Ave., NY. and old newspaper clippings with auction information.
