Titled verso: “San Francisco”. In fine condition aside from pinholes in corners, Nelson Bristol Board stamp upper right. Ex-collection Kennedy Galleries, Inc. Study for “Courtyard, San Francisco” (1962) which is illustrated in the Kennedy Galleries catalogue No. 9.

Antigua Guatemala, a colonial capital of art and culture, was founded in 1543 and destroyed by an earthquake in 1773. The earthquake was so severe that it caused the capital to be moved to Guatemala City. Several ruined churches and monasteries sprinkled throughout the city attest to the violence of the damage.
