Bartsch 21; Boorsch and Lewis 45 ii/V. From Prophets and Sibyls, a portfolio of six engravings after Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel frescoes. Inscribed on the frieze at the bottom under the cornice: “MICHEL ANGELVS INVENT. ET PINXIT. GEORGIVS MANTVANVS FECIT Nico. Van alst formis Romae”. A very good, strong impression, printed on laid paper with AMG Serafini Fabriano watermark (Boorsch and Lewis 47), indicating a printing of probably 1690. With stamp of the National Museum, Cabinet of Prints, Stockholm verso (Lugt 5130). In very good condition, aside from repaired tear at center of sheet and minor creases visible verso; adhered at top edge to backing, sheet hangs free; trimmed on 3 sides.
