This work uses the lithographic stone for Primary Series: Gold Stone, CR 533. Around 1979 Krasner began using prints from her Primary Series in collages. In some, as is the case with Twenty-Four Hours Light, the lithograph provided a background on which Krasner drew, painted, or collaged cut-outs. In other examples the prints themselves were cut up and affixed to paintings or drawings. Krasner’s collaged works were featured in a solo exhibition at Pace Gallery, Lee Krasner: Solstice (March 20 – April 18, 1981). Krasner said of her collages: “I go back on myself, into my own work, destroy it in some way and come up with a new thing… this seems to be a work process of mine… it’s a form of clarification… a form of growth.”
