From the series “Vedute di Roma.” From the first Roman edition. Signed in plate lower right: “Piranesi Archit. dif. ed inc.”; titled in plate lower center: “Veduta del Tempio Giove Tonante”. With extensive inscriptions in plate. The paper is a Roman style paper, significantly thicker than that used in the Paris editions. With lifetime fleur-de-lys watermark similar to Robison 33, in use from 1760-1761, or Hind 3, which he associates with lifetime impressions. A fine impression with very strong contrasts, in fine condition, with centerline crease as issued. Sheet measures 21 1/8 x 30 3/8 inches.
