This was produced as a design for a memorial for the Spanish American War. Inscribed in the work: “This is the place for an inscription such as Santiago di Cuba, Manilla, Porto Rico, etc. Rome July 4, 1898. Also here to show the effect a few names such as Sampson, Shafter, Dewey, Hobson, etc. etc.” In fine condition.
