Ambroise Vollard originally intended to publish “Cirque” with a text by Andres Saures and 8 color etchings and 70 wood engravings by Rouault. Although the wood engravings were later published in “Cirque de l’Etoile Filante”, the 8 color etchings were not included. Wofsy states Vollard most likely intended to publish “Cirque”, however the project was abandoned after the publisher’s death.
