After a painting that hung in the New York house of Mrs. Lamont. Daniel Scott Lamont (1851-1905) was born in Courtlandville, New York. He began as a journalist then became Grover Cleveland’s secretary and later Secretary of War and finally vice-director of the North Pacific Railway Company.
