Bartsch 42; TIB 42. Monogrammed in plate lower left: “AS”. Verso bears collector’s mark of K. E. von Liphart (1808-1891) (Lugt 1687), and this print was probably in his December 1876 sales. A rich, clear and brilliant impression, almost certainly lifetime. In fine condition aside from some general age toning and minor scattered foxing verso. Trimmed on or just within image borderline at three sides; trimmed slightly within image borderline at bottom along an angle that cuts away the number “16” as a result. This impression is richer, clearer and stronger than the impression found in the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Ex-collection Michael Berolzheimer.
