Petite Bonne de Campagne, circa 1900
From an edition of 100. Plate 13 from a portfolio of 25 lithographs by Georges William Thornley after works by Camille Pissarro. After Pissarro's oil painting "Paysanne Assisse" (Pissarro 690). Numbered top right margin: "13". A fine impression with full margins in fine condition, aside from adhesive residue in the top margin and verso, not extending to image. Sheet measures 21 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches. From the collection of Professor and Mrs. Daniel Bell, Cambridge, MA.
Camille Pissarro and George Thornley collaborated on a series of hand pulled lithographs after Pissarro’s oil paintings. Pissarro likely acted on the advice of Edgar Degas, who had also collaborated with Thornley on a suite of lithographs after his drawings during the late 1880s.
