Number 2 in an edition of 4 (+1 AP). Engraved with signature and edition number on the back of the neck.
Building on the idea of the ‘relic’ already established with the classical references within the complete Sebastian statue and the material used, in this case cast bronze, this work pushes the notion further, the bronze taking on an ancient looking blue-green (verdigris) patina. This was achieved by burying the work for 6 months and urinating on the buried bronze (the uric acid in the urine reacts with the copper in the bronze), a process used by artists including Picasso and Andy Warhol.
