St. Petrus [St. Peter] [after Raphael Sanzio (1483-1520)], early 16th century
Bartsch 65; TIB 65. Inscribed in plate, within the halo: “S Petrus”. A fine, mid-16th century impression, in fine condition aside from a 1/8″ repaired area of surface abrasion at far right area of shadow with a partial unknown collector’s stamp in lower right. Trimmed within platemark, 1mm – 2mm beyond image borderline, with complete image borderline visible on all sides around. This impression is richer and clearer than the impression found in the Fogg Musuem of Art in Cambridge, Mass. Ex-collection Michael Berolzheimer.
