Gammell Trust #T186.
This is the study for panel VI of the Hound of Heaven sequence and deals with man’s attempt to hide from God and/or reality by becoming involved with endless games, sport and the symbols of pleasure. The operative passage of Thompson’s poem is as follows: “I fled Him down the labyrinthine ways of my my own mind / and in the midst of tears I hid from him and under running laughter.”
Exhibited: “The Undraped Figure”, St. Botolph Club, Boston, MA, January – February 2004.
