Number 1 in an edition of 3. From the book and series, REWIND: MEMORIES ON REPEAT.

Historically, divas–through their cultural contributions–have provided solace for the Black LGBTQ+ community. One of those figures is Patti LaBelle whose music speaks to the joys and struggles of her large queer fanbase. Here, McCall honors this queer icon by repurposing a photo of him and his friend Saifuddin Muhammad (right), that appeared in a 1987 issue of the Philadelphia Daily News about LaBelle’s concert. McCall is pictured (left) wearing a LaBelle-inspired pocket square he created.
