Here, McCall remembers his friend, Moi Renee as a stylish party starter, nightlife fixture and singer-songwriter of the cult classic dance song, Miss Honey. The latter was sampled by Beyoncé for the track Pure/Honey from her Renaissance album released in 2022. The promotional flyer used here is for Midtown 43, a now defunct LGBTQ+ club that was located in New York City. It features an illustrated depiction of Renee. McCall’s collage celebrates the cultural contributions of the Black LGBTQ+ community, specifically within the dance music and nightlife scene.
