Walker Kirtland Hancock
Small Triton Fountain, 1938

Hancock originally conceived an eight and one-half foot tall Large Triton Fountain figure to be followed by three or four smaller vertical Triton figures for the New York World's Fair in 1939. However, after the budget was constrained the smaller figures were eliminated from the commission. Small Triton Fountain is one of the scale models for an eliminated smaller fountain.
