Signed lower right “E. A. Page”. Titled verso: “Surf at Ogunquit/ Me”. In fine condition. In 1907 and 1908 Page exhibited respectively, “Perkin’s Cove, Ogunquit, Maine” and “Late Afternoon, Ogunquit, Maine” at the Boston Art Club. He seems to have been visiting his friend Charles H. Woodbury who had established himself at Ogunquit in 1899-1900 and began teaching a summer school there. In 1912 Page showed “”Surf at Ogunquit” at the third annual exhibition of the Lynn Art Club.
This painting is probably the picture which was included in the Third Annual
Exhibition of the Lynn Art Club, which opened at the Oxford club in Lynn, Massachusetts on March 26, 1912. See: Howlett, “The Lynn Beach Painters” page. 72.
