Taschen 998; Focillon 838; Wilton-Ely 260; Hind 127 ii/IV, with numbers on the cartouche. From the series “Vedute di Roma.” From either a posthumous Roman edition or the first Paris Edition. According to Hind this state belongs to the first Paris Edition, however it does not bear the inscribed number in the upper right corner typical of Paris Edition impressions. Signed in plate on cartouche: “Cav Piranesi F.”; titled in plate on cartouche: “Veduta degli Avanzi delle fabbriche del Secondo Piano delle Terme di Tito”. A strong and rich impression in overall very good condition to the surface, with restoration work verso of repaired skinned areas. Sheet measures 20 3/4 x 29 1/4 inches.
