“This is one of the earliest of De Lue’s aspirational male figures freed from gravity’s grasp. The design was a proposal for a monument to the 101st Airborne Division in World War II. The base has beautiful sketch studies for four releif panels: Justice; Honor — Integrity; Protector of the Family; and Freedom” from D. Roger Howlett “Donald De Lue; Gods, Prophets, and Heroes,” 1990, pg. 65.
