Bronze with Renaissance Brown patina and gold patina on sun. Number 6 in an edition of 12. Signed and inscribed along top of base [back right]: ‘ De Lue sc 1937 © 1987 6/12 Tx’. Cast at the Tallix Foundry in Beacon, NY. Mounted on Vermont Verde marble base measuring 11 x 9 1/2 x 2 inches. In fine condition.

‘Like Apollo, Helios drove across the sky daily in his four-hourse chariot and was known as ‘untiring,’ ‘all-seeing,’ and ‘he seems to be De Lue’s first publicly exhibited sculpture and was well chosen to exhibit both a theme and a style that would characterize a lifetime of exuberant and optimistic work’ from D.
