29×5IN.CM

Bronze with Pompeiian Green patina. Number 3 of an edition of 12. Signed and inscribed on back of sculpted support: ” De LUE / sc 1948 / © 1986 / 3/12 Tx”. Cast at the Tallix Foundry, Beacon NY. Mounted on Vermont Verde marble base measuring 1 x 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. In fine condition.

“This is one of the earliest of De Lue’s aspirational male figures freed from gravity’s grasp. The design was a proposal for a monument to the 101st Airborne Division in World War II. The base has beautiful sketch studies for four releif panels: Justice; Honor — Integrity; Protector of the Family; and Freedom” from D. Roger Howlett “Donald De Lue; Gods, Prophets, and Heroes,” 1990, pg. 65.
