Phaeton II is De Lue’s second essay in sculpture on this subject. Phaeton II also exhibits a design that must be viewed in the round to fully understand it. The strong contraposto turns the head and the torso in opposite directions, creating two ‘fronts’ to the work and the outline forms a figurina serpentina.
